The new fox kids and resident wolf Lucan got some updated portraits done over the weekend at JAB Canid Education and Conservation Center! Lucan was being extra handsome when he saw my camera come out, something he has been familiar with since a wee little pup!

As for the newest additions, Alexei, Anya Besha, Millie (Lyudmila), and Valentina Maria were welcomed into the JABCECC family in the 4th of July last year.

These foxes come from the legendary Russian domesticated fox program and were facing an uncertain, grim future. But thanks to tireless efforts, they’ve now traded isolation for enrichment, and confinement for compassion.

“This rescue is a full-circle moment,” said our co-founder, Amy Bassett. “We never gave up hope. To welcome them on the anniversary of our nation’s founding, a day that honors freedom, makes it even more powerful.”

Twelve years ago, we rescued our very first fox. Today, we continue that mission—with four new voices for education, awareness, and global conservation.
